In historic Datong, this sanctuary reinterprets the Siheyuan courtyard by weaving architectural fabric with local nature and contemporary flow. Inspired by the volcanic plateau, local basalt integrates into intimate hot-spring courtyards, connecting to earth’s primordial energy. The journey unfolds through a tripartite sequence—from bedroom, through contemplative leisure area, to private courtyard—culminating in a restorative ritual. The design immerses guests in historical essence while offering modern comfort in a healing retreat.
