Shipper Utopia reimagines the future of a degraded industrial workers’ settlement along the Caihua River in Huzhou, China. Once a vibrant residential community built for the employees of a state-owned shipping corporation, the area has gradually declined due to pollution, ageing building stock, and the collapse of its original industrial economy. This project proposes a comprehensive spatial and social regeneration strategy that transforms the derelict neighbourhood into a resilient, self-sustaining, and community-driven urban system.
