Portals is a high-rise design proposal in Guangzhou that rethinks vertical living in dense urban areas. It uses modular, retractable structures and digitally controlled telescopic units to create real-time spatial adaptability. Inspired by smartphone interfaces, each unit behaves like an app—responsive, interactive, and user-driven. Through an intuitive app, users expand or contract spaces to suit changing needs, from work to rest. The project explores how architecture can evolve with digital lifestyles, offering a scalable, inclusive solution that maximizes space, promotes equity.
